frequently asked questions

+ What is a birth doula?

A birth doula is a part of your birth team that has a sole focus on being that person for you. The one that knows and relates to your pregnancy concerns. The one that can squash those worries and encourages confidence and trust in your body and your baby. The one that holds space for you when you need it most. The one that stays level headed and focused on the big picture so that they can meet your needs you didn’t even know you had.

A postpartum doula does not perform clinical tasks (such as…blood pressure, cervical checks, listening to baby’s heartbeat, tending to wounds, or anything medically related). A doula does not make decisions for you or your family, speak on your behalf, or project any of my own beliefs onto your experiences.

+ Who needs a doula?

Every birth, every family, and every story is unique. Someone seeking out a birth doula is looking for the encouragement, support, and care of a trusted friend who will offer education and empowerment to do all they can to have the birth they desire. A doula is your unbiased friend who is happy to answer that quick text about your pregnancy concern

+ Does a doula replace my birth partner?

A doula’s job is never to take charge of your birth space. They are there to help and empower your partner to best meet your needs in ways they may not have known how. The doula never takes the place of any member of your birth team, but supports everyone you choose to be a part of your baby’s journey.

+ What does the doula do during birth?

From tenderly holding space to offering the best hip squeezes you’ve ever felt to being ready with that ice water when you need it most. A doula will know when to offer emotional and physical support during your labor and when to give you space. Your doula will provide position ideas and resources. She will remind you of your plan and goals. She will continually insure that you feel safe, heard, and respected. She will encourage your partner to eat, drink, and rest at appropriate times. After your baby is finally in your arms, she will continue to support your entire family for an hour or two as you learn your new roles in life. A doula will support with your first latch, your first snack, and make sure you are comfortable.

Payment Plans & Gift Registries

Doula Support is an investment. I get it, truly.

But your birth story is one you will be telling for the rest of your life. Doing what you can to create the best birthing environment for your family is key.

So that is why we give the opportunity to encourage friends and families to skip that toy that will eventually be under our toes at 3am. Ask your co-worker to nix that adorable onesie that will be worn once and likely end in a diaper blow out. Share with your Baby Shower attendees the idea that another diaper cake is awesome…but this time…a custom made Gift Registry for your family where any dollar amount of their choice can be put toward your support!

I’ve had multiple clients reach out that are nearing their third trimester who maybe need just a little more time to pay! Square offers families who are approved the opportunity to make payments up to twelve months! Even after the baby arrives! If this alternative works for your family, you can apply here. Upon approval, month reservation with me, and collection choice, I will invoice you through Square so that you can use the card number that they provide.

What Clients Had To Say

“Beth is both an amazing photographer and person. She was extremely flexible with scheduling (and rescheduling) and traveled over an hour to my home to spend an afternoon with my family. Her sweet and attentive disposition made it feel like we were simply walking through our property with a friend- a friend who just happened to take out her camera and take our picture along the way. Her patience with children should be commended. She also was extremely understanding of sensory needs and social interaction deficits that my son has and was still able to engage him to make eye contact, smile, and document the heart he has that is sometimes difficult for the rest of the world to see. When I saw the end result, I felt simply that Beth had done exactly what I set out for her to do- she captured my heart on film. I truly hope Beth continues to grow her photography business because my family is young and we have many more years that we'll need her to document.”

-Erin

“ Beth was great to work with! By the end of the session my 2 year old wanted to give her a kiss goodnight before bed so she made quite an impression on my children”

-Danielle

“Incredible photographer! Captured wonderful memories for my family. Thank you!”
